Many professions require continuing education and training to stay certified or licensed. The utility industry is no different. NERC requires System Operators to meet a minumum requirement every three years. Each state also requires Professional Engineers to acquire a specific number of continuing education hours for a license renewal. Depending on your certification, System Operators must have a minimum number of hours every three years such as:
- 200 CE hours for Reliability Operator
- 160 CE hours for Balancing, Interchange, and Transmission Operator
- 140 CE hours for Balancing and Interchange Operator
- 140 CE hours for Transmission Operator
