Federal Energy Regulatory Commision (FERC) - is an independent agency that regulates the interstate transmission of electricity, natural gas, and oil. FERC also reviews proposals to build liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminals and interstate natural gas pipelines as well as licensing hydropower projects.

North American Electric Corporation (NERC) - mission is to ensure the reliability of the North American bulk power system. NERC is the electric reliability organization (ERO) certified by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission to establish and enforce reliability standards for the bulk-power system. NERC develops and enforces reliability standards; assesses adequacy annually via a 10-year forecast, and summer and winter forecasts; monitors the bulk power system; and educates, trains and certifies industry personnel. ERO activities in Canada related to the reliability of the bulk-power system are recognized and overseen by the appropriate governmental authorities in that country.

Department of Energy (DOE) - mission is to ensure America’s security and prosperity by addressing its energy, environmental and nuclear challenges through transformative science and technology solutions.

Department of Homland Security - has a vital mission to secure the nation from the many threats keeping America safe. This requires the dedication of more than 230,000 employees in jobs that range from aviation and border security to emergency response, from cybersecurity analyst to chemical facility inspector.


American Public Power Association (APPA) is the service organization for the nation's more than 2,000 community-owned electric utilities. Collectively, these utilities serve more than 46 million Americans.  APPA was created in 1940 as a nonprofit, non-partisan organization to advance the public policy interests of its members and their consumers, and provide member services to ensure adequate, reliable electricity at a reasonable price with the proper protection of the environment.

The Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI) - is an independent, non-profit company performing research, development and demonstration in the electricity sector for the benefit of the public.

IEEE - is the world’s largest professional association dedicated to advancing technological innovation and excellence for the benefit of humanity. IEEE and its members inspire a global community through IEEE's highly cited publications, conferences, technology standards, and professional and educational activities.

National Rural Electric Cooperative Association (NRECA)  -  is the national service organization for more than 900 not-for-profit rural electric cooperatives and public power districts providing retail electric service to more than 42 million consumers in 47 states and whose retail sales account for approximately 12 percent of total electricity sales in the United States.  Membership includes consumer-owned local distribution systems and 66 generation and transmission cooperatives that supply wholesale power to their distribution cooperative owner-members. 

North American Transmission Forum - is an independent, nonprofit corporation thats mission is to promote excellence in the reliable operation of the electric transmission system. Members may include any organization that owns, operates, or controls at least 50 circuit miles of integrated (network) transmission facilities at 100 kV or above, operates a “24/7” transmission control center with NERC‐certified transmission or reliability operators, or has an open access transmission tariff or equivalent on file with a regulatory authority.
